PROJECT 1: APPLICATION OF BASIC BUILDING SERVICES
This project is an individual component which will work on the basic application of building services. We are introduced to the four major types of services available which are essential to make a building function. We are required to design the systems required from a building plan given and draw the systems in the plan. We are required to propose and design the four major types of services for the building such as
(1) Electrical supply system
(2) Cold water and hot water supply system
(3) Sewage and sanitary system
(4) Storm water and drainage system
PROJECT 2: BUILDING SERVICES IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS
In a group of 6, we are required to perform an analysis on building services systems found in multi-storey buildings. We have to choose one of the design studio 4 design, an elderly centre from one of group members and apply the building services that have learnt into this building. We will be introduced to systems that are used on bigger volume of spaces and variety users. The 4 major services that must be applied in the buildings are :
(1) Mechanical ventilation
(2) Air-conditioning system
(3) Fire protection system (active and passive fire protection system )
(4) Mechanical transportation system (elevator and escalator travellator system)
