PROJECT 1A: LIFE BETWEEN BUILDINGS: USING PUBLIC SPACE

It is a group component, we are required to read through Life between Buildings by Jahn Gehl. Next, we are to examine the patterns of social activities in a foreign city which is assigned by tutors and identify the contact points of the site. The selected contact points are to classify the varying degrees of contact intensity. This project aims to provide critical perspective on key issues within the contemporary discourse of architecture through the integration of case studies and theoretical studies and enhance our understanding of the complexity of atchitecture and the ability to undertake independent research. 

PROJECT 1B: COMPARATIVE ESSAY

The following project is an individual component which we are required to write a comparative analysis essay based on the finding from conducted case study and local site research of the Design Studio 5. We are to examine the similarities and difference based on the patterns of social activities, types of contact points and the varying degrees of contact intensity between two cities. We are expected to conduct research from, books internet and relevant sources for the foreign city and observation for the local site. 

PROJECT 2: SYNOPSIS

In this project, we are to produce reaction papers for 3 different readings. We are expected to conduct a thoughtful reading and research in order to write the reaction paper. The aim of this project is to enhance the engagement between the students and the relevant theories which have shaped cities and experience around architecture, including its roles as mediator between our society and its architecture. Besides, it also provides critical perspectives on key issues within the contemporary discourse of architecture thorough integration of case studies and theoretical studies,
